The ft are rubberized and don't slip. Set up is nominal. The machine comes mostly assembled. You connect the handle and also the reduce platen. The initial melt away-in cycle at 450F for 20 minutes clears any production residue. There may be some odor during the initial use, but it really dissipates after the melt away-in.
